Marques de la Concordia

Rioja, Spain Rioja in the extreme – making small range of wines with an extreme approach to viticulture and winemaking. Located at the highest point to be planted in Rioja, Hacienda la Concordia is committed to pushing limits as they are well above 600 meters, the limit that many wineries considered ‘safe’ for commercial production. At this height in the Sierra Cantabria Mountains, the climatic risks are much higher but the region enjoys many hours of sunlight due to its North-to-South orientation. The wide temperature variations between day and night make grape ripening exceptional thus ensuring outstanding quality. Named after Don Jose Abascal who was a Viceroy in South America and crowned Marques de la Concordia in 1812 by King Fernando VII in recognition of his uniting the New Creole Wold and the Old European World.
